Final Portfolio

The projects that we did in this class have taught me so much about design, my own creativity, and what I am capable of in the classroom besides more traditional subjects. Each of the projects we did taught me some different things. To begin, the photo editing project helped me regain a lot of the knowledge that I gained in a photo editing class I took in high school, and now I feel like many of the tools that exist in Photoshop are things that I will be able to do whenever I use the software in the future. I am grateful to this class for allowing us to use Adobe Creative Cloud for free, as most classes I have taken at UCSB have required us to purchase add-ons at our own expense. It has made me want to purchase the service after this class ends, as I have genuinely come to really like the activities we have done in WRIT 105 and hope to continue learning more within the different interfaces we utilized. Next, we utilized Adobe Illustrator, in which I created a promotional banner seen on YouTube channels. I felt like this was a large improvement on my Photoshop project, and I really felt like my final submission looked solid. Finally, I utilized StoryMap to create a slideshow showing all of the places in which I have lived in my life. I am proud of how this one came out and am excited for you to see it! As I explained in my write-up for the project, I think any audience will enjoy it because it appeals to both people I am very close with, and can also bring in people I have never met before.

 

This class has given me such an increased understanding of multimedia communication. As a communications major, I have learned almost everything you can learn about Communication strategies and Marketing. But, I never was able to engage in a hands-on experience like this, where I was able to learn to use a bunch of softwares that I never had tried due to their price. I have also learned the importance of creating attractive images for businesses, and will use this understanding going forward when I have to create unique things for whatever tasks I am trying to complete. Thank you for being a great professor and helping me this quarter!
